Coordination Meeting of UKM-LO and Student Affairs: Emphasizing the Value of SME and Campus Collaboration
Diorama Room, Student Affairs News Online - UIN Jakarta's Student Affairs and Alumni Team held a coordination meeting of Student Affairs and Student Activity Units-Outonomous Institutions (UKM-LO) on Friday (7/2/2025) in the Diorama Room of UIN Jakarta's Harun Nasution Auditorium.
The event, which was intended to provide information on the management of student organizations for the next year, was attended by 16 chairmen from each UKM and three LO chairmen.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., in his speech said, in the near future there will be a leadership working meeting and ormawa working meeting. The goal is none other than to equalize the perception between UKM-LO and Student Affairs. In addition, everyone should know that it is increasingly visible that we are able to re-organize UKM activities in the context of maintaining the leadership performance index.
“This means we will reorganize the activity process. There will be new patterns present, but not stopping the process,” he said.
Ali explained three priority programs for ormawa. First, ormawa is oriented towards developing interests and talents that lead to the emergence of certified champions. This is related to the work program (proker) of UKM-LO which prioritizes achievement. Second, work programs that prioritize the development of organizational management in setting the rhythm with the use of facilities, such as budget funds and facilities and infrastructure (sarpras).
“Third, programs that prioritize character building for UKM-LO activists,” he added.
The third priority program was the most expressed by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs. Ali hopes that each organization can maintain cleanliness and a healthy environment. This is because it is related to character building, which he calls an authoritative, confident, and polite style. Thus, he said that there will be manners training to encourage UIN Jakarta to be advanced, leading, and achieving.
On the same occasion, Team Leader of Student Affairs and Alumni, Muhammad Furqon, S.Pd.I, M.A., reminded the role of UKM-LO administrators as part of the lucky ones. This is because they get very expensive knowledge, which will not be obtained when they are in the lecture class.
According to him, ormawa administrators must have a strong commitment to manage the organization as well as possible, which requires sacrifice of time, energy, and thoughts. No less important, Furqon emphasized, the organization will run well if it is built with good communication as well.
“Learn how to communicate in an organization, both verbal and nonverbal, which all determine your success in managing the organization and even in your daily life,” he said.
In line with Furqon, the Head of Talent and Interest Development, Samsudin, S.Kom., also reminded us to build a solid team work by learning and understanding the various characteristics of the board and its members.
“Establish intimacy and warmth between administrators and members because you will walk together for a year in the ark of this organization,” Samsudin said.
Samsudin hopes that all organizations, both UKM and LO, can help each other for activities that will run later, for example in terms of labor or equipment. He also said that there are several ways to attract students to join ormawa.
“One way to attract students to join the organization is from the appearance of the organization itself. Hence, the view regarding cleanliness must be maintained,” he said.
Samsudin also explained several new activities that will be carried out, such as education and training (diklat) and joint programs with UKM-LO. Student Affairs has prepared several tools to support UKM-LO activities, including e-report activities and e-media partners.
“My personal message is please maintain your image as SMEs and LOs that are cool, clean, and pleasing to the eye,” he concluded before ending his presentation.
